Why Did My Bill Increase?

If you've noticed a bill increase despite Rocket Money's negotiation efforts, there are a few possible explanations. Bill changes may occur due to factors such as promotional rate expirations, provider rate adjustments, or the timeline for negotiated savings to appear.

  1. Promotional Rate Expiration When promotional discounts expire, your service provider often reverts your bill to their standard rate. Rocket Money strives to secure new savings during negotiations to offset these increases. Any new rate is typically based on the service's standard rate at the time the promotion expires.

  2. Service Provider Rate Changes Some increases occur due to provider-wide rate changes, such as price adjustments to services. Even when such changes happen, any discounts Rocket Money has negotiated for you will still be applied. These savings will show up on your billing statement as offsets to the adjusted rates.

  3. Delayed Savings on Bill Statements It can take up to two billing cycles for negotiated savings or credits to appear on your statement. If the changes are not reflected within this timeframe, customers are advised to follow up for a review.

  4. Unrelated Adjustments Occasionally, increases are unrelated to active or pending negotiations. For example, expired discounts unrelated to negotiations can lead to changes, which is why it’s crucial to review previous statements to identify such shifts.

To help us investigate further, please send us a PDF copy or screenshot of your latest statement, including all itemized charges. The Negotiation team will be happy to review it for you, but please note that it can take up to two billing cycles for negotiated savings or credits to appear on your statement. If the changes are not reflected within this timeframe, do not hesitate to follow up for a review.
