Tax Deductible Transactions

Keeping track of tax deductible transactions in Rocket Money

Written by Francis
Updated today

We’ve updated how the Tax Deductible tag works.

Previously, Rocket Money auto-tagged some transactions (like charitable donations) as Tax Deductible. Since tax situations vary, we’re turning off auto-tagging so you have full control.

What’s happening

  • As of 3/6/26 the Tax Deductible tag is no longer applied automatically.

  • Past auto-applied Tax Deductible tags have been removed from older transactions.

  • Any manually applied Tax Deductible tags are still present.

What this means for you

The Tax Deductible tag is still available anytime. When you review your spending this tax season, tap a transaction to add Tax Deductible where it applies.

How to apply the Tax Deductible tag

  1. Tap or swipe the transaction

  2. Tap Add tags

  3. Select Tax Deductible

Pro tip

If you still want to automate, you can create rules in Rocket Money to automatically categorize or tag transactions.

Viewing Tax Deductible Transactions

You can mark transactions as tax deductible, such as charitable donations, medical expenses, or business costs. Premium members can set custom categories as tax deductible.

To mark a transaction as tax deductible, toggle Is Tax Deductible from the Transaction details screen:

Exporting Tax Deductible Transactions

To export your tax deductible transactions, navigate to the Spending tab. Scroll to the bottom of the screen under Non-Spending and tap Tax Deductible. From this screen, you can then tap the Export link at the top right:
