Setting up a Financial Goal is quick process within the Rocket Money mobile app 🎉

Please keep in mind that you can only create a Financial Goal in the app as creating and managing this is not available on our website yet. Currently, this feature is only available to our Premium Members. If you’d like to explore our Premium Membership, feel free to review the following Help Articles:

Creating your First Financial Goal

After activating your Premium Membership, the easiest way to create a Financial Goal will be from the Dashboard in the Rocket Money mobile app! You should be able to follow these steps:

  1. Tap on Savings from the Accounts section of the Dashboard

  2. In addition to seeing your linked savings accounts, there should be a section called Financial Goals. Tap on Start Saving under the Financial Goals header

  3. Tap on Continue at the bottom of the screen

  4. Choose what goal you’d like to work towards. If none of them feel like they apply to you and your situation directly, you can choose Save for Something Else

  5. Enter in a name for your goal and hit Continue

  6. Enter in the amount that you’d like to save for this goal (the number will default to $0) and hit Continue

  7. Read about how Financial Goals work and tap Continue at the bottom of the page

  8. Select the Savings Method that you’d like to use.

    1. Smart Savings: this type of plan transfers different amounts of every few days based on your checking account’s balance. Choosing this method allows you to also select how ambitious you’d like to be with your savings. You can choose from the following options:

      • Comfy

      • Moderate

      • Aggressive

    2. Custom Settings: Choose how much and how often you'd like to transfer savings into your Rocket Money Savings account.

  9. Select how much you’d like to put towards this financial goal per month or how ambitious you’d like to be with your Smart Savings. Hit Continue.

  10. Select the checking account that you’d like to link to your Financial Goal. Read the Terms of Service, check the box, and tap Continue

  11. Enter your legal First and Last name. This information needs to match what’s listed on your Government Issued ID. Tap Continue

Creating Additional Financial Goals

If you’d like to open multiple Financial Goals within Rocket Money, you’ll follow the steps above to locate the Financial Goals section on the Dashboard. The only difference will be that you’d tap on + New Goal instead!

Please keep in mind that not all checking accounts are compatible with our Financial Goals feature. If you are running into any issues, just let our support team know the name of the bank where your checking account is located so we can check on this for you 😊
